Nappy Boy’s own T-Pain has returned releasing his 5th solo album and his first official release in over 6 years with his new project “Oblivion” that dropped earlier today. In the midst of his time off Pain did release other music which included his Platinum single “Up Down (Do This All Day)” featuring B.o.B. in 2013 and a joint Mixtape/EP with Lil Wayne entitled “T-Wayne” earlier this year, which had been a rumored full project for close to a decade.
In a recent interview with Complex News on their “Everyday Struggle” show starring Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks & Nadeska Alexis, T-Pain stated that this was his last contractual album for RCA and that after this project he would be continuing his career as a Independent artist. He also mentioned that although he was still technically signed to a major label for this release, he was granted his free creative will for this project, so he felt he was able to return fully back to his “T-Pain essence” and record some of the best material he’s made in a long time.
Songs such as “Textin’ My Ex” which features Tiffany Evans, and “I Told My Girl” featuring Manny G, find T-Pain weighing his personal options between love and lust against some heavy-hitting 808 trap beats; this brings us back to that “I’m In Love With A Stripper” and “Bartender” T-Pain feel that we’re used to. The album also features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Blac Youngsta, TY Dolla $ign, Ne-Yo & Wale. Overall, it’s a very impressive well put together album that’ll definitely be worth your listen.
